Properties:
- Material: Smoky quartz is a variety of quartz known for its smoky brown to black coloration, caused by natural irradiation of aluminum-containing rock crystal.
- Durability: With a Mohs hardness of 7, smoky quartz is quite durable and suitable for everyday wear. It is resistant to scratches and general wear and tear.
- Consistency: High-quality smoky quartz beads are carefully selected to ensure consistent size, color, and clarity, providing a harmonious look in jewelry designs.
Metaphysical Attributes:
- Healing Properties: Smoky quartz is believed to be a powerful grounding and protective stone. It is thought to help release negative emotions, stress, and anxiety, promoting emotional calmness.
- Chakra: Smoky quartz is associated with the Root Chakra and the Solar Plexus Chakra, aiding in grounding and stabilizing one’s energy, as well as enhancing personal power and confidence.
Uses in Jewelry Design:
- Bracelets: Smoky quartz beads can be strung on elastic cord, wire, or thread to create elegant and versatile bracelets. They can be used alone for a minimalist look or combined with other gemstones and metal beads for added interest.
- Necklaces: These beads are perfect for making sophisticated necklaces, from simple single-strand designs to more elaborate multi-strand and statement pieces. They pair well with metals and other gemstones.
- Earrings: 8mm smoky quartz beads are ideal for creating classic and stylish earrings, including studs, drops, and dangles. Faceted beads can add extra sparkle.
- Rings: Smoky quartz beads can be wire-wrapped or set in metal settings to create bold and modern rings.
- Anklets: Similar to bracelets, smoky quartz beads can be used to design chic and fashionable anklets.
Design Considerations:
- Combination with Other Materials: Smoky quartz pairs beautifully with metals such as sterling silver, gold, and rose gold. It also complements other gemstones like citrine, amethyst, and clear quartz.
- Stringing Material: Use strong, flexible beading wire, silk thread, or elastic cord for stringing smoky quartz beads, depending on the desired look and durability. Knots between each bead can enhance the design and provide extra security.
- Finishing Touches: Clasps, spacers, and findings in coordinating metals can enhance the overall design and ensure secure closures.
Care Instructions:
- Cleaning: Clean smoky quartz beads with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, or abrasive materials that can damage the surface of the beads.
- Storage: Store smoky quartz jewelry in a soft pouch or a lined jewelry box to protect them from scratches and preserve their polished appearance. Keep them away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight to maintain their color.
8mm smoky quartz beads offer a blend of elegance and versatility, making them a timeless choice for various jewelry designs. Their rich, smoky color and smooth texture make them a cherished element in a wide range of jewelry pieces, from everyday wear to special occasions.
Care Instructions
General Instruction
You can prolong the life of your jewelry by properly and regularly caring for it. There are some basic rules that you should follow in order for you to prolong the life of your precious and beautiful pieces of jewelry:
- If possible, rings and other pieces of jewelry should not be worn while carrying out home and garden work, exercising or bathing (salt or chlorine water).
- Jewelry should be removed before going to bed or taking a shower.
- Perfume or hairspray can cause the jewelry to become dull and decrease its shine. We recommend putting perfume, hairspray or other cosmetics on first before putting on your jewelry.
Special Instruction for Pearls
- Pearls should not come into contact with perfume, make-up or hairspray. Alcohol or other solvents can damage the surface of the pearls.
- Pearls should be kept separately from other jewellery, ideally in a cloth bag or wrapped in a soft cloth. That way you can prevent your synthetic pearls from being scratched.
- Pearls are also not suitable for cleaning in the jewellery bath.
Cleaning
Please make sure that stones, pearls and cold enamel are compatible with your cleaning methods.
- Soap, cream and make-up residues can be removed using an ultrasonic device. The ultrasonic device should not be filled with abrasive cleaning agents. It is best to use water with a little bit of neutral cleaning agent.
- Please use a jewelry cleaning cloth to polish slightly tarnished areas and remove dullness, bringing the jewelry back to its original shine. If the discoloration and dullness can't be removed with the jewelry cleaning cloth, we recommend using a jewelry bath solution.
- Please carefully follow the instructions of the cleaning product you purchased for use. Best results are achieved when the item is first dipped, dried thoroughly and finally rubbed and polished with the jewelry cleaning cloth.
- Oxidised pieces of jewelry should not be cleaned in the jewelry bath, if you don't want the oxidation (blackened) effect to be reomoved.
- The surface can, however, be polished with a cleaning cloth.
- Jewelry with imitated pearls, freshwater cultured pearls, lapis lazuli, coral, turquoise, mother-of-pearl, jasper, howlite or hematite are also not suitable for cleaning in the jewelry bath.
- Only the silver parts on leather wristbands, rubber straps or straps made of any other sort fabric may be cleaned using a silver cloth. Do not put leather wristbands and fabric straps in silver immersion baths or clean them using an ultrasonic device.
- Other commercial specialist silver or gold jewelry dipping baths may also be used. Please follow the instructions for use and, if in doubt, make sure that stones, pearls and cold enamel are compatible.
